INTO THE WORLD: Learning to guide meditation and serve the well-being of others
In this 1.5-year program you will deepen your understanding of the 3 Doors essential practices and develop trust in your own presence and voice as you learn to guide others in meditation.
The Presenters Path is open to graduates of The 3 Doors Academy after consultation with your Academy mentor. The program includes one-on-one mentoring with a Senior Teacher; monthly group gatherings of teaching, guiding, and discussion; weekly peer practice groups; self-study; and personal reflection.
This program is held online and taught by our Senior Teachers and Teachers.
A Calling to Serve
This program is for those who, after completing an Academy, are inspired to deepen their own meditation practice and share The 3 Doors practices with individuals and groups interested in exploring meditation.
“It is hoped that these simple and profound practices will make their way into prisons and hospitals, boardrooms and think tanks, classrooms and studios, and that they will transcend barriers of culture and belief to support many who could benefit from this potent medicine.”
Areas of Focus and Development
This program will support students to:
- Understand the principles and methods of The 3 Doors practices
- Deepen engagement with processes of self reflection, meditation, and transformation
- Instruct and guide meditation practices, clearly articulating and pacing instructions
- Develop your own authentic presence and voice
- Attend to yourself in the guiding process while being attentive to others
- Seek and receive constructive feedback throughout the training process
- Develop capacity to attentively listen and respond to questions and the shared experiences of others
- Understand and commit to practice The 3 Doors Values, Commitments, and Ethics policies
Once Authorized, Presenters are encouraged to offer the view and practices of The 3 Doors according to their own creative inclinations, while ensuring alignment with The 3 Doors teachings, language, and practice instructions.
Presenters are invited to maintain connection to their mentors for guidance and support and to foster relationships with other Presenters and the larger 3 Doors community.
Program Design
PART 1: Kickoff Mentor Meeting
Students will arrange a one-on-one session with their teacher/mentor prior to the beginning of the 12-month group training. Together they will discuss the student’s self-evaluation submitted during registration and explore their intentions for the path.
PART 2: Group Training
Students will join a cohort of other presenters-in-training for a 12-month process of group classes, mentoring, retreats, self-practice, and study that includes:
Small Group and Mentor Support:
- 10 monthly class meetings with teachers
- 12 monthly practicum meetings
- Three Retreat days: Presenters-in-training lead practices and receive feedback from teachers
- Two one-on-one sessions with your mentor
- Peer group meetings self-organized by students to provide opportunities for guiding practice and sharing experiences
Practice in Guiding Others:
Create opportunities to share the teachings and practices with others. Work with your teachers for support in how, where, and when you will implement this. Report on your experiences in your monthly reports.
Journal and Reports:
Keep a private journal about your personal practice and experiences in guiding others. Write a monthly report to the teacher(s) addressing these questions:
- In what ways have you offered the 3 Doors methods to others? Be specific about the choice and length of practice.
- Describe your growing edge in guiding practice. What is arising for you internally as a presenter?
- How did the participants respond? What did they share about their experience of the practice?
- What is your experience of presenting to and being guided by your peers in your Peer Group(s)?
- What additional support do you need?
Transformations:
Write at least three transformations specifically related to your experiences as a presenter. If you completed 21 in the Academy, you will commit completing at least 21 more during this training. If you completed all 63 transformations during the Academy, you will be asked to complete three more that specifically relate to your experience of presenting.
Retreat:
Complete a personal retreat of at least three days at a time of your choosing and submit a brief report.
