INTO THE WORLD: Learning to guide meditation and serve the well-being of others

In this 1.5-year program you will deepen your understanding of the 3 Doors essential practices and develop trust in your own presence and voice as you learn to guide others in meditation.

The Presenters Path is open to graduates of The 3 Doors Academy after consultation with your Academy mentor. The program includes one-on-one mentoring with a Senior Teacher; monthly group gatherings of teaching, guiding, and discussion; weekly peer practice groups; self-study; and personal reflection.

This program is held online and taught by our Senior Teachers.

A Calling to Serve

This program is for those who, after completing an Academy, are inspired to deepen their own meditation practice and share The 3 Doors practices with individuals and groups interested in exploring meditation.

Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche

“It is hoped that these simple and profound practices will make their way into prisons and hospitals, boardrooms and think tanks, classrooms and studios, and that they will transcend barriers of culture and belief to support many who could benefit from this potent medicine.”

Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Awakening the Luminous Mind: About the Author

Areas of Focus and Development

This program will support students to:

  • Understand the principles and methods of The 3 Doors practices
  • Deepen engagement with processes of self reflection, meditation, and transformation
  • Instruct and guide meditation practices, clearly articulating and pacing instructions
  • Develop your own authentic presence and voice
  • Attend to yourself in the guiding process while being attentive to others
  • Give and receive constructive feedback to/from peers throughout the training process
  • Develop capacity to attentively listen and respond to questions and the shared experiences of others
  • Understand and commit to practice The 3 Doors Values, Commitments, and Ethics policies

Once Authorized, Presenters are encouraged to offer the view and practices of The 3 Doors according to their own creative inclinations, while ensuring alignment with The 3 Doors teachings, language, and practice instructions.

Presenters are invited to maintain connection to their mentors for guidance and support and to foster relationships with other Presenters and the larger 3 Doors community.

FOUNDATION PHASE: One-on-One Mentoring

Students will participate in a series of one-on-one sessions with their teacher/mentor during a six-month period. The presenter-in-training instructs and guides their mentor in the essential 3 Doors practices and receives feedback to prepare them to enter the group training phase.

AUTHORIZATION PHASE: Group Training

Students will join a cohort of other presenters-in-training for a 12 month process of group classes, mentoring, self-practice, and study that includes:

Small Group and Mentor Support:

  • 10 monthly group meetings with Senior Teachers
  • Retreat days: Presenters-in-training lead practices and receive feedback from Senior Teachers
  • Two one-on-one sessions with your mentor
  • Informal peer group meetings self-organized by students to provide opportunities for guiding practice and receiving feedback

Personal Guiding Project:
Create a project that allows you to share the teachings and practices with others and plan how, where, and when you will implement this.

Journal and Reports:
Keep a journal addressing the following questions, and summarize your responses in a monthly written report to your teacher(s):

  • How have you offered the 3 Doors methods?
  • How do you feel your teachings are being received? How did the participants respond?
  • What is arising for you internally as a presenter?
  • What might further support your development as a presenter at this time? Are there specific issues or topics that would be beneficial to explore in a small group with your mentor and fellow presenters?

Transformations:
Continue to complete your written transformations as needed. If you completed 21 in the Academy, you are to complete at least 21 more during this training. If you completed all 63 transformations during the Academy, you will be asked to complete 3 more that specifically relate to your experience of presenting.

Retreat:
Complete a personal retreat of at least 3 days at a time of your choosing. Write a short report of no more than one page.

Entering the Path

Upon completing The 3 Doors Academy, or anytime thereafter, you may feel drawn to share the practices of The 3 Doors with others. The first step is to reach out to your mentor to explore the possibility of entering the Presenters Path. The Presenters Path is by invitation only and the expression of your interest, enthusiasm, and confidence is an essential step to initiate this process.

Total Cost:  $3000 (approx. $166/month over 18 months)

Payment plans and scholarships are available.
