Carel Camerer has had the good fortune of being a student with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche for the past 20 years. Her prior studies include teachings with the Dalai Lama, Buddhism classes with Michael Roach, Medicine Buddha trainings with Segu Chopel Rinpoche, and practice in a Medicine Buddha Healing Clinic. Carel graduated from the first 3 Doors North American Academy and has continued to deepen her studies and practices to become a 3 Doors Teacher.
She began working with children teaching outdoor education and returned to school for her masters degree in psychology at UWW. Carel has also pursued ongoing study in the ancient healing arts of Japan, China and Korea. This led her to study Buddhism and start a private practice for Energy Psychology.
Carel also founded a mental health clinic. For a dozen years she did play therapy, trained interns, facilitated groups, practiced healing arts, and taught self help classes. This work culminated in a published training manual for women’s shelters and private practitioners. As her professional practice evolved, Carel did extensive training, study, and practice related to psychoanalyst Karen Horney's work with coping strategies and self-functions. Horney’s biography revealed how her work had led her to the Buddhist Path, and resonated with Carel as an example of the 3 Doors teachings and practices on the connection of all things.
Carel has facilitated practice groups, taught meditation classes, and coordinated teachings for Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche in Olympia, WA over the past 20 years.
