Waking up to the truth of impermanence and death has been core to practitioners of wisdom traditions for centuries. In this course we will explore the power of this recognition to support a vivid relationship to the inner refuge and to awaken the motivation to fully share our gifts in this life.
Making an open and loving relationship with one’s death is a true support for those who seek to live a fully expressed life, to realize peace, and to benefit oneself, family and loved ones, and others in living and in dying.
This is a self-paced, pre-recorded course of six parts, each consisting of recorded reflections and guided meditations led by Senior Teacher Marcy Vaughn.

Part 1
In the first section, through short, clear, guided meditations we explore the three doors of body, speech, and mind. We are guided to bring our attention to the stillness of the body, silence of inner speech, and spaciousness of mind in order to access an inner refuge. This inner refuge is a fundamental source of positive qualities and a source of comfort and peace in the presence of the changing and impermanent conditions of life and death.
Part 2
In the second section, we reflect upon three primary conditions that underlie much of the suffering we experience as human beings: separation, lack, and fear. Bringing open awareness to these experiences, we can discover the healing power of inner refuge.
Part 3
In the third section, we reflect upon what we have relied on in this lifetime that is no longer available at the time of death. We practice releasing our attachment to the forms of this life, continuing to discover a sense of being that is not dependent upon outer circumstances to secure oneself.
Part 4
In the fourth section of this course, we reflect upon and acknowledge the emotional attachments of our life. We consider any unfinished business or regrets we may carry, and we open, release, and rest in a deeper source of healing within.
Part 5
In the fifth section, we continue to reflect upon and loosen our attachments, particularly our attachments to the positive experiences of this lifetime. We can discover that these positive qualities are not dependent upon conditions that are impermanent, but rather arise from a deeper source within.
Part 6
In the final section of this course, we continue our journey of acknowledging impermanence and the dissolution of all we have relied upon in this life: the dissolution of familiar objects and places and people; of emotions; of positive qualities; of language; of our identity. From open awareness, we explore the possibility of embodying the fullness of being in one’s present life in a freer, more positive way.
