Are you living an inspired life? In this self-paced, take-anytime course you will explore meditation practices that support you to have a vital relationship with your inherent creativity, to care well for yourself and others, and to awaken the inspiration to express your life fully.
You will be supported to explore the power of self-generated sound as we follow the energetic map of the chakra system within the body and chant the Five Warrior Syllables. These five sounds are considered sacred in the tradition of Bön Buddhism and have been engaged for centuries to remove obstacles and ripen the capacities of the practitioner.
In this program, 3 Doors Senior Teacher Marcy Vaughn will guide you to:
- Learn the path of the Five Warrior Syllables and engage the practice to connect to the fundamental richness of showing up fully for your life.
- Recognize the habitual tendencies that lead you to abandon and disconnect from yourself.
- Practice reconnecting and reinvesting the power of your attention in the freshness and resourcefulness of the openness of your being.
- Meet the necessary warmth of loving kindness within that allows your limiting self-stories to loosen and your inspiration to emerge, to mature, and to be expressed.
Program Design
Part 1
In part one, we explore the ground or fundamental principle of creativity, which is being. According to these teachings, our being is fundamentally, inherently open, spacious, and empty of any defining characteristics. Within each of us is this ground, a source of all positive qualities. We explore accessing this source by drawing our attention inward and resting it on the stillness of the body. As we encounter our restless moving mind we focus on stillness and rest. We meet what occupies us and open into our experience, developing familiarity and trust in our capacity to experience openness. We will engage the crown chakra, one of the five energetic centers that we will explore in this course, and sing the Warrior Syllable A to connect us to the power of openness.
Part 2
In part two, we explore the direct perception of openness referred to as awareness, naked awareness, thought-free awareness—awareness free of the clothing of the conceptual mind of bias and limiting ideas. Awareness is the discovery of inherent richness, of unlimited potentiality in any given moment. Fresh. Alive. And of course, we will encounter what obscures this awareness, our discursive gossip and inner dialog, and what to do about it. We will focus at the throat chakra and sing the Warrior Syllable OM to engage the power of awareness.
Part 3
In part three, we explore the power of intention or aspiration, and also inspiration, or the spontaneously arising movement of thought, image, or idea, sparked from our connection to open awareness. What blocks our capacity for inspiration or limits the power of our aspiration? All the stories we bind ourselves with, some of them not even fully conscious. We will learn to embrace our hesitations and difficult moments, to recognize that sense of me who doubts or hesitates, and to find the necessary openness, awareness, and warmth of self-compassion to loosen what binds us. Here at the heart chakra, the necessary components of discovering inner refuge come together as a single experience of openness, awareness, and kindness. We will focus at the heart chakra, singing the Warrior Syllable HUNG, as well as the powerful mantra A OM HUNG to engage the power of inspiration.
Part 4
In part four, we look at embodying our inspiration or aspirations and moving with them, alive in the world as we meet others. We will talk about the power of the transformation of what appears as an obstacle—often our afflictive emotions—and when well met, how emotion becomes the fuel, a resource or support for our growth. We focus at the navel chakra and sing the Warrior Syllable RAM, engaging the power of the ripening and maturing of our aspiration or inspiration.
Part 5
In part five, we explore expression through body, speech, and mind and find what supports us to heal what may inhibit or block us from this expression. We will look at the expression of pain as a way to liberate us, as well as the expression that spontaneously arises from openness. We will focus at the secret chakra and sing the syllable DZA to engage the power of manifesting.
Part 6
In part six, we acknowledge the entire journey, the ability to turn within and find the support and encouragement we need no matter where we feel stuck. We will explore all five warrior syllables as a mantra practice and focus on the motivation to benefit others and serve their well-being.
