Karen has studied with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche for almost 25 years and has been a Buddhist practitioner for nearly forty. She has been involved with the 3 Doors since its inception and was the first 3 Doors Teacher.
Professionally, she was a clinical therapist for 35 years in individual and family counseling. She was also an adjunct teacher at the Indiana School of Social Work and trained other therapists through the Indianapolis Gestalt institute. During the last 45 years, she has studied various forms of healing. As an energy healer, she has facilitated several medically documented healings. And through it all, meditation has been her enduring passion. Karen's first meditation class was in 1973; she knew meditation was her path. Karen has taught meditation in numerous academic, medical, business, and spiritual settings.
As she retired from therapy, she knew she wanted to continue to explore other expressions of the multidimensionality of being. She was ordained as a Unity minister in 2020. As an ordained Unity minister, she often incorporates the wisdom of the 3Doors teachings and practices in Sunday morning talks and online and in-person seminars. Today, all her expressions focus on healing the illusion of separation from self, other, and Source by turning to the Inner Refuge. Today, with her husband and beagle Buddy, Karen lives in the mountains outside Asheville, North Carolina, where she continues teaching meditation, blending her love of meditation and hiking with abstract landscape painting.
