Awakening to Inner Refuge Through Crisis and Chaos

Crisis is a time of chaos and upheaval. It can shatter our ability to adapt, rendering us groundless, anxious, and fearful. Our capacity to cope and make sense of our lives is challenged. Crisis can also become an opportunity to awaken within.

Based on ancient Tibetan Bon meditation practices, this three-week online Walking the Healing path course supports you to discover the wisdom of your essential nature as the ultimate refuge and the source of healing and protection. You will learn how crisis can amplify stress and suffering, especially for those working directly with people, those who are isolated and feeling disconnected, and those who are sensitive and unknowingly take on the suffering of others. You will discover how the three qualities of inner refuge: being, awareness, and warmth of genuine presence support you in navigating this journey from crisis and uncertainty to healing and wellbeing.

  • Enhance awareness of subtle body channels and open heart in being present with difficult situations.

Program Design:

A week before each live zoom, participants will receive a 45-60 minutes pre-recorded teaching that focuses on awakening through crisis. These modules as well as the guided practice portion, of our live Zoom meetings are available for streaming or download. The group discussions are not posted for privacy reasons.

Each Wednesday we will meet together from 1 – 2:30 p.m. New York time (Time Zone Calculator). This is a time for you to practice with others from around the word, share experiences, and ask practice questions.

The first live zoom and prerecorded teaching will focus on how crisis affects our body, speech, and mind. We will explore understanding our reactions and the ways we become lost or overwhelmed. Crisis becomes a doorway to healing as we discover how bringing our attention to the stillness of the body, silence of speech, and spaciousness of mind can support our capacity to self-soothe, to develop resilience, and to find comfort.

The second live zoom and prerecorded teaching will reinforce the past teaching on the channels and chakras of the energy body. We will emphasize connecting with the heart chakra and learn how the life force and pervasive tsa lung movement exercises support inner soothing and integration. We will have the opportunity to deepen the embodied awareness of an open heart and find the necessary support to be present when facing challenging situations.

The third live zoom and prerecorded teaching explores working with sacred sounds in clearing blockages and allowing the direct experience of inner refuge. As we stabilize our connection to the openness of being, we abide in the dynamic energy of embodied presence—the ultimate refuge and source of healing and protection from chaos and uncertainty.

CANCELLATION POLICY:  Prior to the program’s beginning, refunds for cancellation will be made in full (minus a $25 processing fee).  After the official start of the program, no refunds will be given.

COURSE PREREQUISITE:  This course requires previous participation in a Walking the Healing Path (WTHP) in-person or online program.  Completion of this 6 hour self-guided WTHP foundational course will also meet this requirement.  The WTHP foundational course is available at any time, and provides an introduction to the teachings, an understanding of subtle energy, and guidance in how to work with the channels of the subtle body with awareness.

$199  WTHP Awakening in Crisis course ($149) and the self-guided video WTHP foundation course ($50, a savings of $19).

The foundation course serves as a prerequisite for those who have not participated yet in a WTHP program. The foundational course link will be sent you directly after registering when you choose the package option.

Each participant receives 7.5 hours of course materials.  There are 3 hours of prerecorded teachings and guided practices as well as 4.5 hours of small group interactive Zoom classes led by Senior Teacher Raven Lee, which contain both guided practices and discussions.  The group guided practice sessions are recorded and accessible any time.  An online discussion board is available to share experiences and ask questions throughout the course.

Barbara Raven Lee, Ph.D. is a Jungian psychotherapist, meditation teacher, shamanic healer, and board-certified fellow in clinical hypnotherapy. A Buddhist practitioner for almost three decades, Raven is a senior student of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, and a Senior Teacher of The Three Doors Academy. She is a Reiki Master/teacher and certified Energy Psychology clinician. Raven integrates ancient wisdom with Western psychology and neurobiology in her private practice in Pasadena, California, where she specializes in trauma and mind/body healing. She is also the author of “Unbinding the Soul: Awakening through Crisis and Compassion.”
